Testimonial – Amazing Ku

From Lisa Coverdale

Our endurance ride season started on April 9, and your boy, Amazing Ku, made quite an impression. 100 miles in EIGHT days, and THREE BEST CONDITIONS!!! Metabolically, he could not have performed better. His BC’s and A+ ride cards are proof. Physically, he could have easily won, but with a sprained ankle, I was the weak link!! As for managing him while traveling, in camp and on the trail, he is wise, a great communicator, no monkey business.

Official ride stats were posted:

Color Country Day One (25 mi.). This was my first time in a competitive environment with him, so we took it slow. 3:47, 11th place. Color Country Day Two (25 mi.): We picked a spot in front and stayed there. 2:53, 3rd place. But more importantly, he won Best Condition (BC). Color Country Day Three (25 mi.): He’d found his stride. A fast 2:15, 3rd place. And, he claimed BC. Antelope Island (25 mi.): Despite “taking it slow,” we had another Top Ten Day!! 3:32. 4th place. And was awarded his third BC!!! For me, there is no award greater, than consecutive BC’s.

From casual trail to backcountry mountains to competing, he is happy. Ku is competitive, but he is patiently waiting, while my physical ability improves. You get in the saddle, warm-up, you feel the engines, but at the same time, he won’t engage without permission! Though I’ve started a few horses that are doing beautifully in their endurance careers, I’ve never ridden a horse like Ku. We just love him, thank you so much for giving us this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Kathy.
